Also known as Blazing Stars, the Liatris flowers are characterized as spike shaped purple/lavender florets growing on tall, lean stalks. Each bloom has fuzzy hair-like petals that only open on the top portion of the stalk. With the meaning of joy, bliss and happiness, the liatris is often included in a romantic bouquet.
